frequently asked questions
no, dikra. we're not that forward. on the day of the birthday/anniversary, your calendar event will have a whatsapp link with a pre-written message. you tap it, review it, send it yourself. we write the jokes, you take the credit.
once you subscribe, birthdays & roj birthdays show up as events in your apple or google calendar. you'll get a notification — just like any other calendar reminder. no extra app needed.
google calendar syncs external calendars every 12–24 hours. so if you just added a contact, give it a day. apple calendar is faster — usually within an hour. google runs on indian stretchable time, apparently.
in the zoroastrian calendar, every day has a name (roj) and every month has a name (mah). the day & month you were born on is your roj birthday — and it falls on a different gregorian date each year. we calculate it so you don't have to.
because the roj day depends on the exact date — day, month, and year. the zoroastrian calendar doesn't line up neatly with the gregorian one, so even one year off means a completely different roj. if you don't know the year, check the "don't know the birth year?" option in the add contact form — we'll help you figure it out from the last roj birthday date.
if you're unsure, go with shahenshahi — that's what most parsis in india follow. kadmi is used by a smaller group, and fasili aligns with the iranian/fasili calendar. when in doubt, ask your mummy.
yes. we use google sign-in and supabase for storage. we don't see your google password. your contacts are private to your account. we're parsis — we value trust more than tareli macchi.
on android chrome, yes — there's a picker icon next to the phone number field. on iphones, apple doesn't allow websites to access your contacts (privacy reasons), but your keyboard will suggest contacts as you type the number. blame apple, not us.
absolutely. when adding a contact, just pick "anniversary" as the occasion. you'll get both the actual anniversary and the roj anniversary reminders. because forgetting an anniversary is worse than burning the dhansak.
9 a.m. your local time. whether you're in mumbai, london, or toronto — it's always your 9 a.m. enough time to send a wish before the birthday person finishes their chai.
100%. no ads, no subscriptions, no "premium roj upgrade." this is a community project by two bawas who wanted to solve a problem. kem chho? bas, free chhe.
